On April 22, 2018, the city of Conakry completed its program for the 2017 mandate of UNESCO as World Book Capital: a whole year
devoted to the promotion of books and reading in the service of culture, youth, literacy, essential ingredients
for economic and social development of the Republic of Guinea.

The grand closing of this world cultural event is the culmination
of several years of effort by all actors working to improve and develop access to books in Guinea.

5ème édition du festival Bulle d'Encre de Guinée
Conakry Capitale Mondiale du Livre 2017

Organized during the closing of Conakry, the world capital of books, the festival "Bulle d'encre", wants to promote African culture through comic strips made by young cartoonists from several countries. It also organizes a drawing competition to detect future professionals of press cartoons and caricature.

The National Instrumental Ensemble of Guinea conducted by Sekouba Kandia Kouyaté
during the inauguration of the National Library in Conakry (Guinea) in April 2018
on the occasion of the closing of Conakry World Book Capital 2017.
