Foofi

live cinema

Film director & live musician / sound artist

Foofi is a live cinema performance which mixes genres of documentary and personal journal using moving image and sound. Through sensorial cinema the piece explores the consequences of  both being displaced and of dreaming of being in "that fantasized other place" with Interviews which tell tales about people who went away. The performance is presented as live cinematic experience in which Eric Desjeux manipulates the soundscape, performs live music and diffuses his own field recordings through deep listening sequences during the screening, where eventually water emerges as the central character.

"The heat and the big continent of Africa are almost palpable." Rinus Van Alebeek

premiered at Noorderzon festival of performing arts & society in Gröningen (NL) - 19th of August 2021
