Ventilated Continuum Sound

Music composer and live musician
Eric Desjeux & Vincianne Sestito

The idea:

We use the acoustic and frequential reactions between ventilated organs, without amplification. The result is a time-stretched continuum sound, a breach into time and space, to bring the auditor to hear what he couldn’t hear without focusing and slowing down. Through a frequency summation called « coma », created with a specific score, modulations appear in the space and re-define the way we can listen to music. As the sound is not being broadcasted through a sound system, each auditor will hear something different and specific according to where he is situated in the space. It gives the sound a presence, a physical presence, surrounding all attendants.

The set-up:

It consists of a large number of ventilated organs, as a duo in an installation mode by Vincianne Sestito and Eric Desjeux who compose the score . Ideally, the audience is invited to walk around freely, in order to experiment the numerous different possible perceptions of the sound, while the performance is not meant to be a classic frontal stage / audience concert.
